Get to Know the Terminology:
Clinical Psychologist: Psychologists are member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and allowed to conduct assessments, diagnose and conduct psychotherapy services, but cannot prescribe.
Psychiatrist: Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs) who have completed medical school and additional specialized training in psychiatry. They are allowed to conduct assessments, prescribe medication and make a diagnosis.
Registered Psychotherapist (RP): They are members of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, RPs and RP Qualifying are allowed to conduct psychotherapy services, but cannot diagnose and prescribe medication.
Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying (RP Qualifying): They are members of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. They have completed their initial training and are in the process of acquiring additional client hours and supervision to obtain a full Registered Psychotherapist (RP) status.
Registered Social Worker (RSW): Social workers are members of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. RSWs are allowed to conduct psychotherapy services, but cannot diagnose and prescribe medication.
In Ontario, psychotherapy is considered a controlled act, meaning it should only be performed by a properly qualified professional to ensure client/patient safety.
It is defined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as, treating, by means of psychotherapy technique, delivered through a therapeutic relationship, an individual’s serious disorder of thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may seriously impair the individual’s judgement, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning.
Student therapists and interns are in the process of completing their Master’s level education. They are closely supervised by our Registered Psychotherapists.

Associate Therapist
We are currently looking to expand our team and looking to hire an individual and couples therapist!

Qualifications:
- Be trauma informed – Ideally a Certified Trauma Therapist
- Be trained in and confident providing Couples Counselling
- Have a minimum of 5 years of experience providing counselling and therapy
- Ideal but not required: Ability to offer services in a second language – we are looking for an Arabic or Farsi speaking therapist
- Ideal if have a background, training, or strong interest in Islamic Psychology and a willingness to learn in this area
- Hold a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health, or a related field
- Be a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the CRPO or a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the OCSWSSW
- Carry professional liability insurance
- Value and practice a holistic approach, including somatic or body-based interventions
- Be able to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment
