What is depression?

Depression is more than just feeling sad or having a bad day. It is a mental health condition that shows up persistently and over time can negatively affect a person’s thoughts, emotions, and daily functioning.

Signs you may be struggling with depression:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Loss of interest in things you once enjoyed
  • Changes in sleep or appetite
  • Low energy and difficulty concentrating. 
  • In some cases it may show up as irritability or physical aches and pain
  • Suicidal thoughts and self harming behaviour
