Recovery From Spiritual Abuse
What is does spiritual abuse in Islam look like?
Spiritual abuse is the use of the Muslim faith and its teachings to manipulate, control, or bully under the guise of faith, religious principles, or claims to spirituality. It can occur in families, marriages, community spaces, or institutions. If it is not addressed, over time, spiritual abuse can negatively affect our self worth, increase self blame and lead to anxiety and depression. It may also create barriers to connecting with faith or using faith as a source of comfort and coping.
